Introductory Educational Seminar ...
We offer an introductory educational and informational seminar for those people seeking more information about weight loss surgery. This class is taught by an experience bariatric nurse and one of our surgeons. These classes are an introduction to:
- The disease of obesity
- The effects of obesity on the body
- Surgical treatment
- Surgical options
- Preparing for surgery
- The surgical experience
- What to expect after surgery
- Insurance considerations
- Steps to get a consultation with a surgeon
- Basic questions and answers
- Previous patient testimonials (most times...)
This class is mandatory prior to seeing our surgeons for many reasons. It will give you basic information so that in your consultation with the surgeon, you can spend time focusing on their recommendations. It allows you to think about your options and choices well in advance, and to do further searching and information gathering as you see fit. This class is highly rated by its participants, who feel it provides a very thorough overview to weight loss surgery.
Although this class DOES NOT require you to sign up in advance, arriving promptly will give you a chance to sit where you feel most comfortable.
There is NO FEE for this meeting.
Your support persons are greatly encouraged to attend. There is no limit on
the number of support persons permitted to be present with you.
We have multiple class locations; please make sure that you verify WHERE the class is, WHEN it is being held, and HOW to get there on time. We have so much information to share with you, that we want you to be able to experience it all. In order to be able to focus on learning about obesity, please arrange child care outside of the class. Refreshments are not served; please bring your own beverages. Smoking is not permitted at most sites.
Please note that these dates are subject to change. Although we take care to provide accurate information here, you may wish to contact us to confirm the availability of a particular seminar.
